Victoria Airport Authority Recognized as a Top Employer in B.C.
Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) has been named as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for 2025. Now in its 20th year, BC’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
“We’re pleased to receive this special designation for a sixth consecutive year,” said Elizabeth M. Brown, Victoria Airport Authority President and CEO. “Being recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers highlights the heart of our organization – our corporate values. This honour is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of the entire VAA team. This award is a source of pride for all of us to be again acknowledged as a top employer and we’ll remain committed to investing in the health and wellness of our employees and organization.”
Some of the reasons VAA was selected as one BC’s Top Employers include:
- Victoria Airport Authority launched a KUDOS online recognition program to engage employees in celebrating their peers — employees receive 100 points to gift to their colleagues at the beginning of the year and points can be redeemed for a variety of products and gift cards
- Victoria Airport Authority encourages ongoing employee development with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions and employees can apply for paid and unpaid educational leaves of absence for full-time studies (with duration determined on a case-by-case basis)
- Victoria Airport Authority helps employees plan for life after work with retirement planning assistance services, along with generous contributions to a defined benefit pension plan
Employers were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office or principal place of business in British Columbia. Employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
