⚠️ ADVISORY: Potential WestJet Service Disruptions MORE arrow-right
close-notice
UPDATE: Aug. 1, 7:00 a.m.

Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is aware that WestJet has begun cancelling some flights ahead of a potential labour disruption as contract negotiations continue between WestJet and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing WestJet Cabin Crew.

If an agreement is not reached, WestJet has advised that a broader disruption to its network could begin at 11:01 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday, August 1.

Passengers travelling with WestJet over the coming days may experience flight changes or cancellations. If you are travelling with a connection, please check the status of your entire itinerary before leaving for the airport, as disruptions elsewhere in the WestJet network may affect onward travel even if your departure from Victoria is operating as scheduled.

If you are travelling with WestJet, please:

  • Check the status of your flight and your entire itinerary through the WestJet app or at westjet.com before leaving for the airport.
  • Monitor your email and text messages for updates from WestJet.
  • Review WestJet’s travel advisory for information on rebooking and other travel options if your flight is affected.

YYJ continues to monitor the situation closely. We will provide updates through yyj.ca and our social media channels as more information becomes available.
