Ride-hailing company KABU begins serving Victoria International Airport (YYJ)
KABU, a made-in Canada ride-hailing company, has launched its service at Victoria International Airport (YYJ), giving travellers another safe, affordable and reliable transportation option from their fingertips.
“We’re excited to finally bring to Greater Victoria residents and visitors the type of on-demand services they have been looking for, said Austin Zhang, CEO of KABU-Ride Inc., headquartered in Richmond, BC. “KABU has provided more than two million trips to 200,000 customers, mostly in Metro Vancouver, and since launching in Victoria in October, we’ve seen tremendous growth in demand for our ride-hailing service.”
“The airport is pleased to welcome KABU”, said Rod Hunchak, Director, Business Development and Community Relations, Victoria Airport Authority. “As air travel continues to rebound and we see more passengers at YYJ, we are excited to offer new ground transportation options for travellers.”
A unique feature to KABU is that a traveller can choose the language of their driver (where available). While KABU had plans to launch its service in Victoria in the spring 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed those efforts until now.
Real-time booking for a ride with KABU is as simple as 1-2-3. First download the APP to a smartphone (available in the App Store and Google Play), register for an account, and book a trip with one of their driving partners, selecting service, time of pick-up and destination. The contactless, cashless payment system means customers and drivers don’t have to deal with credit cards or cash.
KABU’s Victoria-area service extends from Langford to downtown Victoria and out to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal.
At YYJ, passengers will find designated ride-hailing pick-up stalls along the curb in the Short Term parking lot. For drop-off, ride-hailing vehicles will use the same drop-off areas that taxis and other vehicles use.
