Victoria International Airport (YYJ) Recognized with Airports Council International (ACI) Award for Best Hygiene Measures in North America
Victoria International Airport’s (YYJ) commitment to the health and safety of our passengers has earned it the Airports Council International (ACI) Award for Airport Service Quality Best Hygiene Measures by Region (North America).
“The ACI Airport Service Quality Awards represent distinction in the industry and we are honoured to be recognized. The Hygiene Award is particularly valued for our airport community as it directly reflects the extraordinary efforts that went into the implementation of our TravelSafe YYJ program and its continued support by our outstanding facilities team and airport service partners. At YYJ, the health and safety of passengers, partners and employees is our top priority and to be recognized by our customers for the level of hygiene measures in place, the clarity of those measures and the confidence they have while in our care is especially meaningful,” said Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) President and CEO, Geoff Dickson.
The Hygiene Award was introduced in 2020. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, travellers expect new services and procedures to address their specific needs and concerns. YYJ is continuously evaluating guidance, streamlining processes, adapting our infrastructure and incorporating technology to match what our customers are looking for.
“As we recover, we will listen to our customers to understand their changing needs and expectations. We recognize the importance of reassuring them that their health and safety is top priority,” said Dickson.
This is YYJ’s second consecutive time being recognized by ACI for Best Hygiene Measures. YYJ is also a three-time recipient of their highest honours, Best Airport in North America (<2M passengers) in 2012, 2014 and 2020. Since its creation in 2006, the ASQ Awards have become the world’s leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark. Prior to 2020 and 2021, ASQ delivered over 670,000 in-depth passenger surveys yearly with close to 400 airports worldwide participating across 95 countries. Its meticulous methodology, quality control and impartiality of the ASQ survey makes it the global standard for measuring customer satisfaction.
“As we come together as an industry to rebuild, listening and acting on the changing needs of customers is more important than ever. I am proud of the achievements of Victoria International Airport in winning the Best Hygiene Measures by region (North America) which shows that they are prioritizing customers, setting an example of excellence for all their peers,” said Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General ACI World.
