Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) Recognized as a Top Employer in BC
Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) has been named as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for 2022.
“We’re pleased to receive this recognition for a third consecutive year,” said Geoff Dickson, Victoria Airport Authority President and CEO. “Being recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of the entire VAA team. “When considering the incredible challenges we’ve faced collectively over the past two years and continue to work through, in what we hope, is the final phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, this recognition is a highly valued achievement.”
Some of the reasons, VAA was selected as one BC’s Top Employers include:
- VAA supports employees through various stages of life, from maternity and parental leave top-up for parents-to-be, to flexible work options to help balance personal and family commitments, to retirement planning assistance for those in the later stages of their career.
- VAA encourages employees to put their health first with up to 15 paid sick days annually, and organizes Healthy Workplace initiatives each year, with a variety of activities to promote health behaviours.
- VAA supports a variety of charitable organizations each year and welcomes employee feedback on local and national initiatives to support — additionally, the organization generously matches charitable donations, to a maximum of $5,000 per year.
Now in its 17th year, BC’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers throughout British Columbia were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in British Columbia; employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
