Victoria Airport Authority Recognized as a Top Employer in British Columbia for 2026

Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) has once again been named one of BC’s Top 100 Employers, earning the distinction for 2026 and marking the seventh consecutive year the organization has received this designation.

VAA’s recognition reflects its continued investment in organizational culture, leadership, and long-term workforce sustainability, particularly at a time when employers across British Columbia are facing increasing competition for skilled talent.

This people-first approach is foundational to VAA’s Strategic Plan, which prioritizes building an aligned and engaged team while strengthening long-term organizational resilience. In support of its strategic priorities and commitment to reconciliation, VAA is also focused on a diverse and inclusive workforce. In early 2026, VAA announced a commitment to grow the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) Indigenous workforce through employment opportunities for members of the local W̱SÁNEĆ Nations, supporting meaningful participation, long-term career pathways, and shared prosperity.

VAA was selected as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers based on several key programs and initiatives, including:

  • Comprehensive family benefits, including maternity and parental leave top-ups to 100 per cent of salary for 16 weeks for all new parents
  • Flexible paid time off, including five paid days each year for medical appointments, school meetings, and other personal needs
  • Ongoing professional development, with tuition subsidies for external courses and paid and unpaid educational leaves for full-time studies
  • Strong retirement support, including retirement planning assistance and generous contributions to a defined benefit pension plan
